Greater Boston NCSY and JSU are proud to introduce to the community our first ever volunteer tutoring service. The JYM, or The Jewish Youth Mentors, was created by local teens who are passionate about providing assistance and additional educational opportunity to elementary school students.

Teens who sign up on the form below will be paired up with an elementary school student for a 15-20 minute session to assist them with their progress in school ad help them stay on pace during this difficult time of distance learning. There is a tremendous need at this time and each of you can play an essential role in ensuring that the youth in our community don’t fall behind educationally, which could affect them for years to come. An additional and essential aspect of this program is to provide mentorship and social interaction. Our intention is that during this difficult time of social isolation, there is an opportunity to elevate the experience for both teens and the youth alike.

We are looking at Sunday mornings, 10:15 am-10:30 am. Please make sure that you are available at this time before signing up.

For Parents:

Once a parent fills out the form for their child, they will shortly receive a call from one of our pairing specialists. They will discuss the process and style of the sessions. There will also be a conversation about educational strategies to ensure a successful experience for both the teen and child. Lastly, we will discuss compatibility and interests to ensure a successful pairing.

Once a pair is made, parents will receive an email with the match as well as the teen tutor introduced in the email. The parent will be able to coordinate with the teen tutor to ensure that they know what is going to be worked on so that the time slot is most efficiently used.
