The Fellowship

A Scholars Fellowship. Not another class.

HEADLINES is a Boston JSU Scholars Fellowship designed for high school teens interested in exploring the intersection of Judaism, current events, and modern life.

Through thought-provoking discussions, real-world controversies, and meaningful conversations with adult mentors from the Boston Jewish community, teens explore how Jewish ideas, values, and perspectives relate to the issues shaping our world today. The fellowship offers an opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of Jewish thought, develop critical thinking skills, and engage in intellectual exploration beyond their regular JSU school clubs. It's a real academic extracurricular, the kind you can list on a resume or a college application. No prior Jewish knowledge or background is required. Participants enjoy dinner at each session and earn stipends based on attendance. Come to ALL eleven or come to the ones that grab you. Check them off on the form and change your mind later.

What a night looks like

7:15 to 8:30. That’s it.

Dinner

Real food, every week, from the minute you walk in. Come straight from wherever you are.

The story

One case from the news. You get the facts and both sides before anyone tells you what to think.

The sources

What Jewish scholarship has to say about it. Mentors from the Boston Jewish community learn the sources through with you in small groups.

The argument

Everyone back together and the room goes at it. You leave at 8:30 still thinking about it.

Questions

Before you sign up

Do I have to come every week?

No. Pick the nights that grab you, check them off on the form, and change your mind whenever. Showing up for one night is completely fine.

Yes. HEADLINES is a Boston JSU Scholars Fellowship, a real academic extracurricular you can list on your resume and college applications.

What’s the $15?
